| I can't remember what first drew me to the dark side of art; it was probably to do with Doom, and all those other violent video games I played in my youth. I certainly remember spending several evenings making a careful pencil copy of the artwork from the Doom packaging. Although I took art at both GCSE and A-level, it wasn't until after school that my art really matured. I acquired Photoshop and a graphics tablet, and began manipulating photos with the aid of my digital camera. In early 2003, I began to tire of photomanipulation, and realised that what I couldn't photograph I could simply paint. I spent several months re-learning all my old drawing skills, and applying them to painting in Photoshop. Since then I haven't looked back! I paint in the evenings after work, sometimes for clients, sometimes for myself. I work on a Dell Dimension 4500, using a Wacom Intuous II A4 tablet, with Photoshop or Painter (and occasionally some real-media work). |
