Since it's now been almost a year since I finished Lichmaster, my first all-digital painting, I thought I'd return to that theme and see how I handled it a year on!
Digital painting in Photoshop, using a standard round brush. I'm still not totally happy with the electrical effects, might have a go at re-doing them in the future.. You can see the stages this picture went through here: [link] Daily DeviationGiven 2004-02-24Lichmaster II by ~kingzog is an experimental in terms of lighting, daring choice of colors. What I really love about this piece is that I can see clearly the loose brushstrokes, admiring them because it’s something I find very difficult to do; painting a loose style-picture has interesting brushstrokes which draw people in. If I may suggest anything, I'd say you should try to have more fun working on the eyes.

I love to use complementary colours - I also love to use blues for shadows, and I love the green/purple colour combination! I started this pic by blocking in the light sources and shadows and worked from there, which I've found really helps when arranging the lighting.
Yes, this is all round brush, although the grainy texture is mostly down to Photoshop's "Add Noise" filter - I tend to apply that to most of my pictures, just to give the surface a bit more life.
The eyes were just two brush blobs... I left them because they look directly at the viewer, and I kinda liked the simplicity.
Thanks for the comment!
Hey, everyone learns to draw Eddie at some point! He's actually quite easy to draw once you figure out the pattern. Trouble is, all your zombie pics end up looking like him if you don't concentrate
